Amy Shark’s “Sunday Sadness” Soars to No. 1 in Australia

A Triumphant Return: Amy Shark’s Third No. 1 Album

Australian singer-songwriter Amy Shark has secured her third consecutive No. 1 album with her latest release, Sunday Sadness. The album, which marks Shark’s fourth studio effort, debuted at the top of the ARIA Chart on August 16, 2024.

This achievement follows the success of her previous chart-toppers, Love Monster in 2018 and Cry Forever in 2021.

Sunday Sadness has been a labor of love for Shark, taking three years to complete. The artist expressed her gratitude, stating, “Words cannot explain how much this No. 1 means to me. I’m so glad you all love it as much as I do.”

Shark’s success is part of a broader trend in Australian music, with her album being one of four homegrown releases to debut in the top 20 this week.

This marks a significant moment for the Australian music industry, with ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd celebrating the achievement as “an unbelievable result that our whole industry should be proud of.”
